She was pregnant an due with our second child, and the hospital was down the street . . . .bonus!!! We liked having the kitchenette because we were able to pick up a few things at the store and have a little breakfast while we read our complimentary paper. Not to mention the pool and ocean at our doorstep!"

"My girlfriend and I just stayed here recently and I would give it a 4.0 out 5. After reading all of the mixed reviews I was very iffy about staying here. After seeing how the management had responded to mostly all of the bad reviews, we decided to give it a chance and boy are we glad we did.
We generally stay closer to Ormond-by- the Sea, but, the Driftwood’s location was AMAZING. Within minutes we could be at the shops of Daytona and North Turn, (our favorite place for lunch) or we could be in Ormond and our favorite dinner spot Snack Jacks (High Tides). If it’s your first time to Florida you can find everything so easily and enjoy fantastic restaurants within a 10-15 mile radius, or play Putt-Putt, which is directly across the street.
The room we had was not as bad as the reviews claim, we had a Pool Side room, with a great Ocean View, which we very much enjoyed and within steps from being on the beach. The Staff, especially Kelly (the Manager) were extremely friendly. Housekeeping (Vernell) always made sure we had towels or whatever else we needed. Additionally, we were able to bring our puppy, which was very nice as well.
The only con to the whole place was the limited amount of parking, which is free. If you don’t go into it expecting the Ritz Carlton, I am sure you will enjoy your stay as much as we did."

"Just had a 3 night stay here at the Driftwood, and I have to say I searched for days through all the travel sites for an hotel on the beach that wouldn't be mold, roach, filth, dirt and overall disaster. I read through so many reviews about almost every hotel along the beach and of all the hotels this one had the least amount of bad reviews and the reviews could easily be explained away to renovations so far as I could tell. So I decided to give it a shot for a night & was really impressed when I didn't get to leave home when I wanted to & put me behind so I called the front desk told them it would be close to 10pm before we got there that's when I was told the office closed at 10pm, but she would be happy to wait for us just give her a call a quarter til to see how close we were. Sure enough she stayed til 10:30pm after hours & was still welcoming. When we got to our room I was a little more impressed since the room we stayed in was a king ocean view on the ground floor now we didnt have a balcony but had a huge picture window that had just as great of a view from & my chihuahua was welcome without an extra fee's. I was very happy with our stay now they are still doing some renovations here & there overall what they have left to do is very minimal at best & it's coming along very nicely. Don't expect the Hilton or Marriott & you will be equally happy as we were!!!"

"I have been coming to the driftwood my whole life with my mother and father. When I had my own family, I chose to take them to the Driftwood also. I have twins and our first trip was when they were 4, they will be 18 next week and we have been there every year. Our reservations are in July. I love this motel."

"This isn't a cookie-cutter chain motel or a J.W. Marriott. Thank goodness! The owners and staff of the Driftwood Resort make the place feel like home. Before reading the comments from the mid 2000s on how great the staff was I thought I was going to be able to make some unique contribution by focusing on how helpful, friendly and caring the owners and staff are. Instead, I'm just here to reinforce what most others have said. Yes, sometimes my upstairs and my adjoining neighbors were loud; doors and walls between what could be suites are thin. But the noisy ones didn't stay long. Some of the renovation work is poorly done, and sometimes floor cleaning isn't pristine. It's usually at least as good as I do at home. But those are minor considerations. Having a kitchen overlooking the ocean makes me feel like a Rockefeller. I can easily take the dog to the grassy lawn outside the balcony (when I had a ground-floor room open to the pool/lawn area) or equidistant, to the car out front. The resort (perhaps a bit of hyperbole, but I do have an oceanfront room with kitchen!) is near the grocery, near Ormond Beach's finest restaurants (Bonefish, Stonewood, Billy's Tap Room, LuLu's), a stone's throw from Daytona Beach and yards from the beautiful, ever-changing Atlantic Ocean. All of this within a modest budget! Neal and Vicki and their two children have been here 2 years and are working hard to bring the apartments and hotel rooms up to par while their own apartment is being rebuilt; manager Kelly and housekeeper Denise live on site as well. All seem eager to help guests enjoy their stay. A great location, caring, helpful staff -- what more do you need to enjoy life?"

"I've been staying at the Driftwood since 1996 once or twice a year. I love that the beach and pool are right out your door, and the area is less crowded then the pier. I was very happy with our stay last spring because the staff was on the grounds again and the renovations work was well underway. The room are always clean and the staff always helpful. The area has everything you could want, restaurants, grocery store and even a little shopping."
